Just another Manic Monday

Breathe and reboot.

Those are the words that come to mind when I think about today. No, my computer didn't crash like Carrie Bradshaw in SATC (though, I really do need to learn to back up. Eek!). Just a busy day, but not as usual. Lots of deep, calming breaths were needed to battle my stress, partly because today my boyfriend and I signed a lease for a new apartment. And we are moving this weekend! And that is just the start of the craziness.

This is how my day went:
9:30 am: Interview with mall's "credit card bailout" winner.
10:30 am to 11:30: Check out an apartment across town. Nice enough, but no likey the price ($400 deposit + $500 pet deposit + $50/month pet rent!! Hazel is a money pit, I tell ya.).
11:30 am to 12:30 pm: Go back to apartment we found and liked the other day; apply to lease; agree to pay a still-high-but-more-manageable $250 deposit + pet deposit (where is my money going??? I need a raise...).
12:30 pm to 2 pm: Freak out at my to-do list. Talk with editor. Call source for story. Cut them off to run to another interview.
2 pm to 3:30 pm: Interview lab supervisor at wastewater treatment plant and get stuck taking an impromptu (and smelly) tour of the facility.
3:30 pm to 5 pm: Call five other sources for stories but only talk to one; leave messages for the others.
5 pm to 6:30 pm: Decompress (that whole "breathe and reboot" thing), finish an article leftover from last week and write this blog.

The overall theme for the day was that I had too much to do (and too many people to call) and not enough time to do it. Luckily, my editor is compassionate and said he understands if some of my smaller, less-timely stories fall by the wayside due to "outside pressures like moving" (his words). But I really want to get done as much as I can. So this is what I am going to look like tonight, tomorrow, and Wednesday-- which is pretty much how I look all the time, moving or not!

Ah, the beautiful Carrie Bradshaw, aka my idol, aka Sarah Jessica Parker. Kinda looks like me: Hair up, tank top, typing away...  All I need is a New York apartment, better accessories and witty rhetorical questions to pepper my stories with-- oh, wait. Can't really do that when you write for the news section of a small community weekly. Oh well, never mind.

Anyway, it was just another manic Monday I suppose.

It's just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my fun-day
My I-don't-have-to-run day
It's just another manic Monday

Sorry for the random blog, my mind is a bit like mush, but you understand . . . yes?

Do I get some credit at least for referencing a Bangles song and a Sex and the City episode in the same post?

Love Sex and the City, I just watched all the seasons this past summer!

That so reminds me of some of the days I had when I did my work experience at my hometown's newspaper. Either you spent the day sitting around waiting for people to call you back or you spent it racing around from interview to interview or photo to photo! That's no fun that you guys are moving, moving SUCKS!!! Is the apartment a lot better than the one you're in now? You'll have to post pics!
